Barbara Jean Thaxton, 69, of Cross Lanes, was called home to her Lord and Savior on April 10, 2016.
Barbara Jean loved children and was a Creative Kindergarten teacher for 39 years with Kanawha County Schools. She was a devoted member of Cross Lanes Baptist Church. Within the church she worked in the AWANA program with the Cubbies and was a member of the Christian Women's Club. She was also a member of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Basil Atlee and Wanda June Thaxton.
Survivors include her special friends and caregivers, Dianna and Joe Patton of Eleanor; and their children, Jamie Chapman and Ashley Garcia; several cousins and friends; and her special canine Yorkie companion, Pearlleigh Sue.
Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Thursday April 14, 2016 at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home with Pastor Seth Polk officiating. Entombment will follow at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
A special thank you is extended to Rene Entenmann for all the care she gave Barbara Jean.
