Ruth Ann Horton Phillips 51 of Dunbar went home to be with the Lord after battling a long illness, in the early morning hours of March 21, 2016.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her favorite times were spent with her three grandchildren, who gave Ruth her most endearing title "Maw". She was a longtime member of the North Charleston Apostolic church. She was an avid sports fan, especially of the West Virginia Mountaineers.
She was preceded in death, by her parents, John and Dorothy Horton, and one brother, John Horton.
She is survived by her children, Josh Phillips and wife Tara of Cross Lanes and Ashleigh Etheridge and husband Nathan of Scotts Hill, Tennessee; Siblings, Mike Horton and wife Jean of Dupont City, Steve Horton and wife Sandy of Charleston, Lynn Horton of Charleston, and Debbie Bostic and husband Tom of Charleston; Grandchildren, Lucas, Lilly and Cooper; Best Friend/Sister, Elizabeth "Catfish" Staats of Dunbar and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be 7:00 PM Thursday March 24, 2016 at North Charleston Apostolic Church with Pastor Anthony Moss officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 5 to 7 PM on Thursday prior to services. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Pocatalico Friday. The funeral procession will leave the church at 1:30 PM Friday going to the cemetery.
